CALL FOR ABSTRACTS DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11!
Abstract/Presentation Topic Overview
The 3rd Aircraft Airworthiness and Sustainment Conference is jointly sponsored by FAA, DOD, and NASA and succeeds the series of twelve Joint Conferences on Aging Aircraft The Aging Aircraft Conferences addressed the safety and efficient sustainment of legacy aircraft operating near or beyond their original design service goal. Major issues addressed included widespread fatigue damage and corrosion of metallic structures, and nondestructive inspection and safety of electrical wiring interconnect systems. The Aircraft Airworthiness and Sustainment Conference expands the scope to consider the entire fleet life cycle; legacy aircraft with materials and designs of yesterday (including life extension consideration/implementation), new aircraft entering the fleet with advanced materials and structures, and development of sustainment technology for next-generation aircraft (improved materials, structures, systems, and processes). By presenting a range of content (research and development, technology transition, operational fleet experiences), the conference provides a forum to discuss today’s issues and available solutions, promote transition of emerging technology into operations, and incorporate lessons learned and advanced technology to improve vehicle design and sustainment practices in the future. Abstracts are sought to address the range of technologies and processes, from research through transition and field use, applicable to legacy, operational, production, and next generation aerospace systems. Abstract submission does not require submittal of a paper for publication in the conference proceedings; however, it is highly desirable that a technical paper be submitted in addition to technical presentations.
NOTE: Submitted abstracts should include a concise description of the content, conclusions, and significance of the proposed presentation. If the author has presented similar information at previous AA&S conferences, then the abstract should clearly state what new results or information will be presented. Submitted abstracts will be judged based upon providing this information.
Also, if you are interested in submitting 3 abstracts as a pre-organized technical session, then contact Mr. Paul E. Swindell at paul.swindell@faa.gov for more details.
ALL ABSTRACTS MUST BE UNCLASSIFIED, PUBLIC RELEASABLE AND NON-PROPRIETARY
Submitted Abstracts Should Focus on One of the Following Topics:
• Implications of WFD Rule on OEMs
and Operators (Details)
• Learning From the Past to Protect the Future (Details)

It is the author's responsibility to obtain all necessary approvals and releases as abstracts MUST BE UNCLASSIFIED, PUBLIC RELEASABLE and NON- PROPRIETARY
Rating Criteria for Abstracts
Abstracts will be reviewed using the following criteria:
- Relevance: Easily relates to subject and track areas
- Clarity: Clearly imparts the idea / thrust of subject to an audience at the first reading
